Operations Lead

About the role

Run the unsexy, load-bearing middle of TSH — contracts, payroll cadence, vendor compliance, candidate onboarding paperwork, and the slow accumulation of internal tooling that lets the recruiting team focus on actually recruiting. This is a senior, autonomous role. We'd like you to help shape it.

Responsibilities

• Own contract execution across direct placements, contract-to-hire, and pure contract engagements.
• Manage MSP and VMS onboarding flows for new clients and new candidates.
• Run payroll cadence and the small army of edge cases (mid-cycle starts, geographic moves, status changes) that come with a W-2 contract bench.
• Coordinate with our outside accounting and legal partners on quarter-close, audit prep, and contract review.
• Build and maintain the lightweight internal tooling that keeps the team out of spreadsheets — submission tracking, comp transparency, retention metrics.
• Be the calm voice on the line when something at a client gets weird mid-engagement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in staffing operations, agency operations, or a comparable people-and-paperwork role at a services firm.
• Genuine fluency with employer-of-record obligations: payroll taxes, state UI, workers' comp, basic compliance.
• Comfort with VMS systems (Beeline, Fieldglass, SAP Fieldglass, etc.) and MSP relationships.
• Documentation reflex. If it happens twice, you write it down. If it happens five times, you tool it.
• Calm temperament. You will be the person clients call when something goes sideways.

Nice to have

• Light technical background — SQL, basic scripting, comfort in a Notion or Linear-shaped tool.
• Experience working across multi-state employment (we hire engineers in most US states).
• Curiosity about the engineering side of the work, even if you're not on it.
